General Questions
What is Puppy Yoga?
Puppy yoga is a gentle yoga class conducted in a space filled with adorable, playful puppies. While you move through a series of calming poses, puppies are free to roam around, cuddle, and even "help" with your stretches. It’s a multi-sensory experience that combines the physical and mental benefits of yoga with the scientifically-proven stress-reducing power of animal interaction.
Our classes are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced yogis. The focus isn't on achieving the perfect pose, but on enjoying the moment and connecting with these furry little friends.
Do I need to be experienced at yoga?
Not at all! Our classes are designed to be accessible and fun for all levels, from beginners to experienced yogis. The focus is on a gentle, relaxing flow and a joyful experience with the puppies.
Why doesn't Yogi Paws use rescued puppies?
At Yogi Paws, we prioritise the safety and well-being of both our puppies and our customers. For this reason, we work with ethical, registered breeders who specialise in raising and training puppies to be well socialised and comfortable in new environments. While we have deep compassion for rescued animals, their individual journeys and previous experiences can sometimes make them unpredictable or easily stressed in a group setting. For the safety of everyone, we've chosen to source our puppies from a registered breeder who trains and hand-selects the most social puppies for our classes. Even so, we are committed to supporting this cause and will donate $2 from every ticket sold directly to our chosen pet rescue organisation, Paws A Moment & Rescue, to help with their ongoing efforts.
How Does Yogi Paws support rescued animals?
Yogi Paws is passionate about supporting rescued animals. We believe every animal deserves a loving home and are committed to helping those in need. For this reason, we will donate $2.00 from every ticket sale to our chosen pet rescue organisation, Paws A Moment & Rescue, to help them with their ongoing efforts.
How does Puppy Yoga influence general well-being?
Stress Relief & Mood Boost: This is the big one. The simple act of interacting with animals has been scientifically proven to lower cortisol (the stress hormone) and release oxytocin (the "love hormone"). Combine that with the mindful movement and breath work of yoga, and you have a powerful recipe for melting away stress and boosting your mood. It's a joyful escape from the daily grind.
Mental Health Benefits: Beyond just feeling happy, puppy yoga can help reduce feelings of loneliness and anxiety. It's a unique and fun way to connect with others and, of course, with the puppies themselves.
A Gentle Workout: While you might not be doing a super intense flow, you'll still get the physical benefits of a gentle yoga session, including improved flexibility, balance, and strength. The playful distractions from the puppies often make the workout feel effortless and fun.
Pure Fun: Let's be honest, it's impossible to stay serious or stressed when there's a puppy trying to nibble on your toes or curl up on your mat. The experience is full of laughter, smiles, and heartwarming moments.
Who should try Puppy Yoga?
Puppy yoga is perfect for anyone seeking a unique way to de-stress and find joy. It's a great fit for animal lovers who cannot own a pet, offering a much needed dose of puppy cuddles and play. It's also an ideal, low-pressure introduction to yoga for beginners and a memorable activity for friends and couples looking for a heartwarming experience. You can easily do it by yourself for some much needed "me time," or enjoy it as a fun group outing to celebrate a birthday, reconnect with friends, or simply create lasting memories with family. Think of it as a joyful alternative or addition to your weekly routine like a trip to the gym or your usual yoga class that provides a healthy dose of both mindful movement and pure, unconditional puppy love.
What if I have pre-existing medical conditions, injuries, or I am pregnant?
For your safety and well-being, we strongly recommend you consult with your doctor before participating.
Yoga involves physical activity, and our classes include interaction with live puppies, both of which carry some risk. Please listen to your body and feel free to modify poses or rest at any time.

What if I have allergies?
At Yogi Paws, we host a variety of different puppy breeds. As a result, we cannot guarantee the specific breeds that will be present at any given class.
For your safety, please be aware that all puppies shed dander, which is a common allergen. If you have animal allergies, we strongly recommend you consult with your doctor before booking a class.

The Welfare of our Pups
Where do the puppies come from?
We are proud to partner with registered, ethical breeders right here in NSW. Our commitment to animal welfare means we never source puppies from farms or backyard breeders. The puppies in our classes, aged between 8 and 12 weeks, are at a perfect age for positive socialisation.
Are the puppies safe and comfortable during the class?
Yes. The health, safety, and well-being of our puppies are our top priority. We have a dedicated Puppy Handler in every class to ensure the puppies are not over-handled or distressed. The puppies are free to roam and play, or they can retreat to a quiet, designated rest area whenever they choose. We also limit the number of sessions each puppy can attend per day to prevent over-stimulation and fatigue. This way, they receive plenty of rest, cuddles, and care between classes, allowing them to stay happy, healthy, and full of energy for the next group of yogis.
What health and hygiene measures are in place?
All puppies are vet-checked and have received their first vaccinations before attending a class. Our studio is meticulously cleaned and sanitised with vet-approved, puppy-safe products before and after every session. We also require all participants to remove their shoes and sanitise their hands upon entry to minimise any risk of contamination, with hand sanitiser provided both before and after each class to keep our puppies safe and healthy.
How do you ensure the puppies get enough rest and are not overworked?
Puppies need a lot of sleep! Our class structure is carefully designed to include built-in rest periods. We limit the number of sessions each puppy can attend and ensure they have a comfortable, quiet space to nap and decompress away from the main yoga area.
Is this a good environment for the puppies' socialisation?
Our classes are specifically designed to provide a positive and enriching socialisation experience. The gentle, calm energy of a yoga class is an ideal environment for puppies to gain confidence and have positive interactions with a variety of people. This helps them become well-adjusted dogs in their future homes.
Are the puppies available for adoption?
We are proud to partner with registered, ethical breeders right here in NSW.
If you fall in love with a puppy during your session and it is available, we can connect you directly with the breeder to discuss adoption.
Frequently Asked Questions
How early should I arrive to the class?
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your class begins. This gives you plenty of time to check in and get settled. We want to make sure you have the best experience possible, and starting on time ensures a smooth and relaxing session for everyone.
What will I need to do when I arrive to the class?
When you arrive, we kindly ask that you take off your shoes and place them, along with your bag, in the designated safe area provided in the studio. For the hygiene and safety of our puppies and all guests, please also use the hand sanitiser provided by Yogi Paws before you enter the yoga space. Once you have completed these steps, you can check in, grab a mat, and get ready for a fun and relaxing session!
How long is the duration of the class?
The class duration is 60 minutes. The class will consist of 45 minutes of gentle yoga while our adorable puppies roam freely around the room, interacting with you as you strike a pose. The final 15 minutes are dedicated to pure puppy bliss, a chance to enjoy some well deserved cuddle time, play with the puppies, and take some memorable photos to capture the moment.
What should I bring to class?
Yoga mats and blocks will be provided for each participant. We would recommend bringing a water bottle to keep hydrated. It's also a good idea to wear comfortable, stretchy clothes that you don't mind getting a little bit of puppy fur on!
Can I bring my own pet to the class?
For the health and safety of our puppies, we do not allow outside pets to join the class. Our puppies are at a critical age for socialisation and have not yet been fully vaccinated.
What happens if a puppy has an accident?
We work hard to ensure a clean and sanitary environment for everyone. However, it's important to remember that our yoga partners are puppies, and accidents can happen!
If a puppy has a little accident, our staff will clean it up quickly and discreetly. We have all the necessary cleaning supplies on hand to ensure a hygienic space. We kindly ask for your understanding, as this is a normal part of working with young animals.
Is there an age requirement to attend?
Yes, participants must be no younger than 10 years old to attend our classes. All participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times from the designated parental area. While this area provides a comfortable vantage point, the responsibility for the child’s behaviour and well-being rests solely with the accompanying adult.
